market day
Every Sunday we all head off to the Organic Farmer's Market, at Northey St City Farm. I really love this weekly shopping experience. Apart from the fabulous organic fruit and veges that we eat every week, and being able to talk to the growers about their produce - often varieties that we don't see in the supermarkets. Apart from these things - going to the market weekly reminds me of going to markets when we were girls. Being a child within a wonderful, creative, nurturing community is such a warm memory. The smallest of the markets was at Uki Butter Factory, which offered the prefect size for being able to explore the markets on our own, while running back to Mum or Dad where they would stand talking for hours with friends. (I really wish I had some scanned photos of us as girls at the market to include, next time I visit my Dad I'll have to look through the photo draw. Sylv and I used to get all dressed up in our best - we always loved wearing dresses instead of pants, and looking pretty!).
I really hope that our babes have these same experiences now, and memories later. Of course, the markets are different in style - fruit+vege as opposed to a general everything market (second-hand clothes, trees, food) - and atmosphere, but they do both have nurturing and caring environments.
I suppose living in a big city, not a smaller town, does mean we don't have that same network of friends or acquaintances that our Mum and Dad had. Also, it may be that Sylvia and I are happy just being with each other and not wanting to bother with the small talk of meeting new people!
I realised that I didn't take any photos of Mischa at the market, so here's one of her asleep on the floor amongst all of Ari's lego play.
winter wind
Well, it seems Winter has finally hit us. Actually it's only a week into Winter officially, but with an Autumn as hot as some (country's) Summers - we didn't think Winter would arrive this year. So, after a few days of full-on rain, the winds have arrived. Every year I forget that this happens, and then when it does I'm surprised. So, it's freezing cold - for Brisbane standards! But, apart from the cold, I love these sort of winds. Seem to spur up something in me / us. Start us into action, of wanting to do things and not stay at home snuggled up reading and drinking tea. Of course, generally it takes me so long to get the something started that the next phase of weather (life) has shifted in.
Currently curling my hands around my favourite cup, filled with piping hot organic green tea. My daily ritual is only of having the tea and the cup - nothing else is ever the same. (I could expect to be able to sit in the sun reading while sipping. Lovely everyday ritual dream). But, then to have the expectations of things being the same would be - is - totally ridiculous. When I have thoughts / feelings of wanting to get things done, then I just get annoyed that they don't happen that way. Whereas when I'm happy to just go with the flow of the Little Ones, then life is much easier, simpler, happier.
So, finally I have set up my sewing machine with ideas in my head. And the knowledge that I'll have to pack it up for dinner time (no dedicated table in our house!), is pushing me quicker to follow on with these images of projects.
The wind seems to have died down a bit - for the moment, a weak sun streaming down. Perfect weather for nappy drying!

time to post
Well, the previous (and first) entry was actually written 3 days ago. That shows how my life is. That afternoon the rain hurtled down. My sister came home with the kids - one her's (4 years old), one mine (not quite 2 years). And of course, racing to the shop in the rain. And then, life trickles away and I realise that its been that long since I sat down and wrote.
So, here we do with number 2 posting.
Its already almost 11pm, and really I should be in bed. But, am copying CDs for my dad - which my sister needs to take down to him tomorrow. So I need to get them done. And I did have a biggish sleep this afternoon. Though of course, the evening's events seem to have erased that from my body's memory!
Its been raining here all week. Ari + I spent the day mostly inside, except when we ventured out to check the mail (and get my tax check, which was great). And look at the garden for a few minutes while the rain held off. The garden's actually not looking too bad at the moment, well sections of it. The front we have planted roses and rununculus, which are flowering beautifully - quite unexpected for me to have such success with plants!
Both my mum and dad are (were in my mum's case. Yes, I'll say it blatantly - my mum's dead! I don't like silly things like "passed on", or "no longer with us". I'll probably talk more about that some other time) great gardeners. I grew up in a beautiful rainforest environment, with palms, cycads, and also flowers, herbs, vege patch (which the chooks mostly enjoyed!).
And now, this is actually becoming long, and probably boring. Maybe I should just keep it short - what I did that day sort of thing....
I'll try working out how to load photos at another stage. Don't want to overload the computer.

beginning+rain
Well, for anyone reading this - this is the first time that I've put words down in a blog. My thoughts / feelings out there to share with you all. So, not really sure how this will go, but hoping it will be moments when I can forget people are listening, and just simply talk. About who I am, where I am, what I think I could be / am / might be - or actually what I'll probably never be.
So, for starters, I do ramble. I can start talking, thinking, writing about one thing and very easily slip into the next phase, thought, feeling. And then its hard to go back to where I was at. So, you'll possibly get used to half sentences and thoughts. And possibly, know where I'm going anyway. As, after all, I'm not really any more unique or different or unusual than the rest of you am I?
It's about to rain. Which is a wonderful thing, as here, we are in drought. I think most places are on this planet - unless in flood! We had torrential rain last night, in the middle of the night. And as our window leaks (above our bed), we lay in bed feeling the water splash in on us. Quite lovely actually. I imagined that I was next to the ocean, with the spray washing on me. Of course, every time it rains we have just washed the car, or have nappies and clothes on the line that then need to be dried over the heater.
The kids came home (one is mine, one my sister's), and a mad dash to the shop to buy cream and strawberries for our anniversary cake. And the rain came down, and seems to be here for at least a little while.
So ends the first of my "finally getting head talking down onto 'paper'".

a little bit about me
I enjoy day-dreaming, sewing, exploring, thinking, photography, writing, learning, laughing, playing hide-and-seek, tickling, picking flowers and produce from our garden.
Sometimes I even have a moment to sit and just be still and quiet.
Hopefully I can continue being a stay-at-home-mum.
Laughing and playing with my babes - who include my two little ones + my nephew, learning how to appreciate the afternoon sun colours, the leaves fallen on the streets, the new shoots growing in my garden, the simple words I read and hear, the spectacular moments my Little Ones give me every day.
