Stitch Circle Community

Creative community is vital for our well-being, our personal making & learning. Come & join our generous group of sharing, inspiring stitchers, creatives & makers, where we gather (online) & connect in a way we’re all yearning for.

In this ever-changing & overwhelming world, our emotions are fragile, our regular creative groups often can’t come together & many of us are feeling a little lost in our creativity

slow mindful stitching will surely ground us

This is where Stitch Circle Community comes in!

A space to connect with like-minded makers across the globe. A place to learn something new, or delve deeper into a craft we already know & love.

Stitch Circle Community is an online sewing circle with friends, like-minded creatives & makers from all over the world. We create, connect, share & meet in a private online space (that is not social media).

With regular zoom conversations we get to chat, inspire, show off our work & laugh along with other makers.

Lovely words

In her courses, Ellie provides a warm and relaxing atmosphere where she emphasises the importance of process over product; thereby showing students that their work does not need to be perfect. It is all about the process and enjoying that process while expressing your own artistic voice with the products you have at hand.
By providing clear step-by-step videos in which she cuts down a project into manageable pieces, students will feel confident that they can complete a project. During the Stitch Projects for Community course, she showed some alternative ways in which to complete a project. This helped students to think about what they would like to make with the stitched cloth instead of merely following along with Ellie's project; thereby helping students to use what they had learned in Ellie's videos in projects that would suit them.

When this crazy time of the world first plunged us into an unknown, many of us found ourselves lost from our community connections and regular creative groups. My health keeps me home a lot! (I’m not allowed to drive). The quiet felt sad and too deep to ponder on my own. And so I created Stitch Circle Community as a way for us to all connect. I was so excited when others were excited and ready to join.

Want to know a funny story about two of our Stitch Circle Community members? Of course you do! Two women, who currently live in very different parts of the globe, started chatting (via our online community space), and realised that they knew each other through previous neighbours and family in a local town they both lived in. The textile stitching community is indeed so wonderfully small and connected. What an honour to see this happening inside our community.

The other wonderful thing - people who never knew each other before are now connecting, sharing, inspiring and becoming friends. Names are familiar, pieces of creativity are being shared in progress, mistakes are being troubleshooted or commiserated over.

I know you’re ready to meet a new textile friend, to be in a safe space to talk about your gentle makings, your journey of exploration and learning.

Let’s create together

Here’s what you’ll find inside the community:

An every-growing library of courses & tutorials

Each month I add a new video lesson. This could be a full how-to tutorial or perhaps a technique. You can access to all previous content when you join.

  • Perfect for carrying library books, your computer or taking a drawing book on your next picnic. Fully hand sewn with external pockets.

Include video tutorial and written pattern.

  • Make the inside of your projects fancy with this lovely method. French seams aren’t hard to do, but a little tricky if you don’t know the process. In this video course I break it down, even if you’re a complete beginner.

  • New stitches added monthly. Let me know what you want to learn!

    Currently includes:

    running stitch
    French knots
how to keep Sashiko thread tidy
    weaving in your thread ends
    couching

  • make a book cover
super special bag with a fancy handle
    cushion cover with zipper
    natural dye project
    fabric printing

  • Our community forum is the perfect space to share our makings. Each month we’ll create the current project together, offering advice, trouble-shooting and encouragement.

  • I’ll be there to welcome you in, answer questions, cheer you on. My friend Pen is going to be helping me in the community forum too, so you’ll have access to help with your projects if you ever need.

Lovely words

Hi, I’m Ellie

I’m a textile artist & maker, a creativity coach, web-designer & mentor, a writer, photographer & soul-sharer.

I have online courses, in-person workshops and 1-to-1 sessions

Are you ready to delve into the gentle, good, slow work of making, creating and sharing?

Let’s make a pot of tea and share our stories together.

Perhaps you’d like to join my newsletter, where I share fortnightly (ish) love notes for creatives. Many of my readers save my words to enjoy over a cup of tea and their stitching. I write from the heart, and share many words that I don’t put anywhere else online.
