new seed

Here's our seed. My seed of hope. We all talk to it and notice it each day, on our kitchen window sill.

First few day's growth can be seen here.

Above} taken on 28th April.

Above} taken today - 4th May.

** for some reason my camera isn't really wanting to take excellent macro photos of this little one. Perhaps it's the strange angle I have to lean out the window, or that it's raining and grey skies today. Or perhaps, as Sam keeps saying, the camera is old now and isn't really as good as it should be.
Hmmmm..... maybe we should treat ourselves for our birthday coming up later this month? Any suggestions of which camera you love using.

from seed

Top image}  A little shoot growing up from a seed.
One night while we were making salad dressing {lemon juice + olive oil + honey} we found a seed that had already just started cracking open.
Ready to send forth roots and a shoot.
I gently placed it in the soil in our little window box on our kitchen window.
A space that gets regular watering and not too much hot afternoon sun.

Little by little each day we have watched our seed grow. Even since taking this photo, a few days ago, it has grown taller with proper leaves opening up.

Bottom image} A piece of mandarin left on our bench, half eaten by Mishi's little mouth.

One day we will eat lemons and mandarins from our own grown trees. This little shoot is the first. A hopeful first. A dream growing to fruition. Even if it takes many years of tending before we have our own fruits.

Other things} It also seems as if Ari has suddenly shot up taller and taller. I don't even recall when it happened - but he is now tall enough that he fits under my armpit quite easily. Just tall enough for me to lean upon him.

not stupid

Photos from our glamorous movie premiere in Sydney.
Look at us three women. don't we look very sophisticated and grown up and all that - i actually don't think that we are; just good at pretending.Kelley, Sylve and me (hailing a taxi - i know what i'm doing, don't i!)Kelley, Sylve and me - on the green carpet at the launch of Age of Stupid. It's a really excellent movie - do go out and see it. A story about climate change, told from the future - with wonderful little views into everyday-people's lives from today. And some just terrible quotes from people, who think they care about the environment yet they don't want a wind farm in their back yard because it'll ruin the view!
The US premiere will be 21st and 22nd Sept. It will be screened all across the States, via live satellite. This is a movie with no advertising budget what-so-ever, yet a strong and important direct message that needs to be seen. Check where your local screening is.
Let me tell you that she, my sister, looked this gorgeous every day of our holiday, regardless of if she was in jeans and boots or her dress-up outfit.Ben and Kelley in their vintage and op-shopped green carpet outfits. Beautiful couple.
