In this course ➛
You'll create a beautiful slow-stitched textile piece, then transform it into a sculptural fabric bowl — a little vessel that is as lovely to look at as it is useful to have around.
Make something beautiful, one stitch at a time
The Petal Bowl is an invitation to slow down, play with fabric and enjoy the process of making.
You'll explore the pleasure of building a textile composition through layers, colour and hand stitching, before shaping your work into a three-dimensional vessel.
It's a lovely way to experiment with your own creative ideas while making something you can use, display and enjoy long after the last stitch is finished.
Inside the course
Step-by-step video lessons to guide you through creating your textile composition and sewing it into your finished vessel.
Create two different designs - you’ll receive a printable pattern for a square bowl and petal-shaped vessel.
A downloadable PDF guide to support you as you work through the project.
Create a beautiful, practical finished piece that you can use in your sewing space, on your desk or around your home.
A little vessel for your everyday treasures
Keep your favourite threads close by. Gather your sewing notions in one place. Give your keys, coins or other small essentials a beautiful home.
Or simply make one because you love the colours, the textures and the quiet satisfaction of creating something that didn't exist before.
You don't need to make something perfect. You just need to begin with fabric, thread and a little curiosity.

You’ll learn how to naturally dye paper using plants, flowers and kitchen scraps.
As well as different simple book-binding techniques from Japanese stab-stitch, coptic binding and pamphlet stitching.
What materials will I need?
You’ll need:
watercolour paper for the natural dye process - it has to get wet
regular or lovely art paper for making books

different needles - size to match the thread, both blunt and sharp
a sharp tools for punching holes in paper, can be an awl or any sharp stick-like thing
saucepan & steamer for dyeing
Is this for beginners?
This is great for beginners, but some of the aspects are a little more technical. I am a beginner book-binder so you can do it too!
This is a challenging yet fun project, where practice really does help.
Can I do this at home?
Absolutely! This can be done in your kitchen or studio.
