Don’t waste your vote - this election might be about voting for the ‘best of the worst’, but anything to keep the ‘worst of the worst’ in a minority.
Every single vote counts don’t waste your vote by writing or drawing on the ballot form. Don’t think that your one vote doesn’t make a difference, because sometimes it comes down to less than a 100 votes.
Preferences are super important too.

I try always to create work that is meaningful, intentional, mindful. That will add ‘value’ to you in the making process as well as the having of the Made treasure. Work that is exciting, inspiring & allows you to develop your own curiosity in the creative self.
I aim to keep things at a reasonable price point for you, while also being respectful of my own time, skills, knowledge and need to support my family.⠀

The quilt kits will be available only for a limited time (another week or so), so I can start dyeing the fabric and assembling the kits for you.

The golden rod flowering season seemed ridiculously short this year another reminder to soak up the good things when they’re right in front of us, and not scurry around being too busy to ⠀
• pick flowers for the dye pot⠀
• play with kids⠀
• make food from whole fresh real ingredients⠀
• tell someone that you love them or they’re beautiful or they make you happy⠀
• plant some seeds right now in a pot or the garden ⠀
• stand in the sunshine, watching butterflies flit from flower to flower⠀
• wind yarn by hand & remember doing that with your mama when you were little⠀
• doing things just for the pure joy of it, no reasons or excuses needed ⠀
• say yes to the little things in life that actually are the big things⠀

I currently have a giant and very exciting weaving project, the biggest I’ve ever woven. These are just some of the colours - I’ll be spending all week dyeing yarn and weaving. I’m so excited to share the process with you over the coming weeks.⠀

Hit me up with some good podcasts, talking books, things to listen to cause I’ll be at the loom for 100-150+ hours I’m guessing.⠀

Sam built me the loom, and it’s set up in my home studio our loungeroom, amongst the LEGO and the washing to fold. ⠀
⠀
PS some of this lusiousness is for my upcoming weaving workshops and the Loom kits; so I hope you love weaving alongside me

Replace the fear of unknown with Curiosity. Like children playing, we can explore ideas, have adventures, make mistakes, overcome fears of perfectionism, step through the ‘not being enough’ to being just right & let go of trying to please others and simply take pleasure in pleasing our curiosity.⠀

Quilt landscapes ||| conversations with my environment and my-self, with ideas of art vs craft, with materialism, with taking things slowly & enjoying each step of the process, even the tedious parts or unpicking parts. ⠀

{quilt kits are now ready on my website, for those of you who wanted to join in with Fear(less) Quiltmaking}.

$progress on this Fear{less} quilt. It’s about landscape, layers of soil, rocks, the way our Earth shifts and forms, pockets of different minerals. With an artistic license towards colour of course 😊⠀ ⠀ I’ve been thinking a lot about the history of quilts & quilt-making vs the current modern day ‘quilt-making’ industry (ie : the pre-cut bundles, fabric ranges, endless tools, & the way it seems having a stack of quilts in ones cupboard is something to aspire to). ⠀ ⠀ Just thoughts - not guilting or accusing... just pondering the way fashion, stuff, quilts, things, over-indulgence of life is. It’s @fash_rev week and I think we need to look at as many aspects in our lives as we can beyond fashion alone. And have these conversations everyday. ⠀ ⠀ This is made with all my own naturally dyed fabric, using dyes from my local environment. I’m using every teeny centimetre of fabric possible, not wasting any. And the teeniest scraps are going into the compost. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ This is linen from @linen_line_australia , and dyed with avocado seeds, loquat leaves, golden rod flowers, dahlia flowers, iron & rusty things, cosmos flowers, elderberries, marigolds, zinnias.... I think that’s all. Various depths or layers of over-dyeing, or colour shifting, or different processes to create different colours from each dye-batch.⠀ ⠀ If you’re interested in making something similar to this, I’m working out the best way to create a Quilt kit, with videos & how-to info. What might suit you ??$

We made bamboo teepees in our garden, with honeysuckle vines woven to lash them together.⠀

Today I planted out sweet pea and snow pea seedlings, that I only planted as seeds just over a week ago. They grow so fast just like these two little sweet peas of mine. ⠀

It will be fun to watch the peas climb their way up and cover these teepees with blossoms. But for now I’m loving the fact that we made this with no wire, plastic ties, string or even purchased materials everything cut from our land. ⠀

🌻🌸🌼🌿🌱 What else should I plant with the peas? Other flowers or veggies to create a Spring -time cubby for the kids.

Naturally dyed eggs for Easter! I’ve used red cabbage, onion skins, beetroot and little ferns & soft herbs to create the patterns. I shared the how-to details on my blog if you want to make your own.⠀

These ones were dyed on brown eggs, if you manage to find some white or paler eggs then the colours will be more vibrant. But I must admit I do love the muted colours.⠀

Perfect craft for kids because everything is kitchen safe and you can play with colour shifting like a scientist !⠀

* it’s probably not necessary to tell you, but please please use free range eggs, from your local farmers market or neighbours perhaps.

What does slow mean to you?⠀
Slow living, slow crafting, slow art, slow eating, Slow cooking, slow parenting, slow gardening, slow social media, slow friendships, slow fashion, slow colour, slow conversations...⠀

I am working on the next issue of my little ezine- Conversations with Slow - and I’d love to hear your thoughts on what this means. ⠀ ⠀

A piece that I’m working on for an upcoming group show. Trying to take things in a slightly different direction - I’ve taken it off the the loom but still adding bits and weaving into it. It needs a lot more hanging tassels; I’ll have to dye some more and *hope* to get colours similar enough. ⠀

In my mind this needs something else... but currently not quite sure what that is. I am considering exhibiting it with the quilt piece I’m working on - see my previous post.⠀
