It Takes A Town
local community based
Web design
Carmen, the director of It Takes a Town, needed a whole new website built after using Facebook for years. The main goal of the site was a simple place to offer information for the community about this local non-profit that offers help, guidance and assistance to those in our community in need.
I didn’t want to create another boring site full of information, but instead wanted something that represents the community and town. (Carmen is a local in my hometown, so I had the insight of how arty and creative our town is). Using their current logo colours, I added pops through buttons to bring that joy and playfulness into the site, that combined with some of the information heavy aspects of the site.
As the logo had been designed many years ago there were no hex codes or branding colours for me to work with, so I utilised ways to extract the hues from the logo, so that all the featured colours aligned with the original logo.
Images were provided by a local photographer, which meant I had to work with what was provided in terms of format, style, colours and quite different subjects. This is something that many clients have, but working with a non-profit on minimal budget meant no space for edits or new content.
