Hi, I’m Ellie

⟶ an artist, author, creative maker & educator.

I’m also a mother, lover of walking bare-feet in the forest & swimming naked in the ocean (though that is harder to do than it should be!).

I share stories & heart-ful living, in a slow intentional manner. I’m truly happiest talking with my flowers in the garden, a light sprinkle of rain tumbling on the heads of my children who are gathering blooms beside me. And watching the way the light falls on the tall gum trees in our forest.

The complex aspect of who I am means that I love both the quiet of crafting & art-making alone, but also feel energised by spending time with other creatives sharing our time together, stitch by stitch, word by word.

Tea & cake, lots of messy fabrics & tangled threads, along with gathered leaves, twigs, seedpods or bird nests play a big part of my life. Along with the noise of a creative family.

I enjoy following meandering paths, being guided by instinct & curiosity, the possibilities of what might evolve simply by playing, enjoying, exploring, experimenting.

Some of these journeys take the form of writing work, textile artwork, photography, or a whole lot of unfinished pieces that never see the light of day. The process of making is important to me.

This little business, Petalplum, is the thing that keeps my family in tea, cake & chocolate, art & circus classes, second-hand or sustainably purchased clothes, and art supplies or seeds for the garden. (And also boring things like electricity, petrol, internet & school uniforms).

Here’s how we can work together

  • web design & creative coaching ⟶

  • hands-on craft & making online courses ⟶

  • creativity & mindset courses ⟶

  • workshops, gatherings & events ⟶

  • heart-ful business courses for artists, crafters & makers ⟶

Ellie Beck Petalplum - styling, creative visuals, slow living

My ethos is about slowing down, creating intentionally & gently guiding creatives (that’s you!) on how to listen to your inner whisper.

I work with an innate sense of just trying something; mistakes & brilliant results come side-by-side.

With an immense fascination for seeing where ideas might lead me, if I follow along the wonky, often-overgrown path they show me.

I work with natural plant dyes, gathering flowers, leaves, bark and berries from my garden and surrounding landscape, to create colour onto cloth, yarn and paper.

With these landscape colours as my guide, I sew, stitch, quilt, weave and create works that speak of my inner stories, memories, loss & sadness, as well as joys & small simple moments. I’m guided by my love of myths & legends, ancient history, stars, planets & astronomical stories, as well as direct environmental impressions, and everyday life as a mother.

Ellie, you are so kind and generous in your sharing, thank you. I have tried other business coaches before and none have come close to what you are offering and sharing with me.
